Amorim Top Series and BA Glass organize the first edition of the Port.Wine Packaging Design Contest.

Port Wine is one of Portugal’s best-known exports in the wine and spirits sector.
Over recent years certain segments of the spirits business, such as whisky, vodka and gin, have enjoyed significant growth through product innovation and also by new bold initiatives in terms of packaging design.

In order to encourage new packaging design proposals for Port Wine, Amorim Top Series and BA Glass decided to launch this new competition – based on the question: How to improve the perception of value through packaging premiumization?
The awards judging panel had the honour to include representatives of Symington Family Estates, Taylor's Port Wine and OMDesign.

The competition was open to students from ESAD’s Product Design course and the award ceremony was held on January 30 in the premises of Amorim Revestimentos (CICIA), in Santa Maria da Feira.

Port.Wine Packaging Design Contest aimed to find the best packaging design and functional proposals in terms of Creativity & Innovation, Sustainability and Premiumisation.  These pillars are of utmost importance in the ever expanding world of premium spirits, where Port wine rightfully assumes a distinguished place.
The winners included Sara Pinto who won 1st prize and the Symington Choice distinction. Alma de Andrade Sanderink and Luís Rocha won 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively. The Taylor's Choice award was given to Mafalda Neves, and Jan Hocker won the OM Design award.

The event also included presentations on the importance of packaging design for the spirits sector.
