From Cask to Cork: Our Newest and Most Sustainable Creation

At Amorim Top Series, we take great pride in producing cork stoppers that blend functionality with innovation. Our latest creation, designed for a special collaboration between Ireland’s Boann Distillery and Portugal’s Justino’s Madeira Winery, represents our most sustainable creation to date.

These capsulated cork stoppers are made from staves of 20-year-old Malvasia Madeira casks, which were originally Cognac barrels crafted from Quercus Robur French Oak. After aging fortified wine on Madeira's volcanic slopes for two decades, these casks were then used to mature the 21-year-old single malt Irish whiskey in this collection. The staves were repurposed to create unique cork stoppers, preserving the distinct dyeline where the Madeira wine had soaked into the wood. Each cork stopper reflects a rich history and our commitment to thoughtful design.

Pilar Braga, General Manager of Amorim Top Series, perfectly captures the essence of this creation: “This capsule bears the most captivating storytelling and stands as the most sustainable creation by Amorim Top Series yet. It is a labor of craftsmanship and expertise in wood!”

Our barrel wood capsules are created with sustainability at their core. The production process of this product gives life to cork stoppers with a unique aroma developed over the years, making each one a piece of art. These cork stoppers are more than collector’s items; they connect to the rich heritage of the whiskey they seal.

This project highlights our commitment to sustainable innovation, merging timeless design with a forward-thinking approach to environmental responsibility.
